Not so Happy. Clinic Day.

Mimi woke up this morning very tired, sad, just "blah" it didn't really get any better while we were at the clinic she looked like she might be getting a fever. Her heart rate was fast, which usually indicates a fever coming. Counts came back and her ANC is pretty low. Nightly chemo pill (mercaptopurine) on hold until further notice. Five day steroid (dexamethasone) pulse is still happening starting today. She had blood cultures taken at the clinic just in case we end up admitted for fever. Since todays Spinal Tap is not count dependant she still got it, everything went fine.

We packed up the and came home for lunch. Mimi ate and drank a bit and has been on the couch watching the food network. I am crossing my fingers that ONE we all sleep a home tonight instead of the hospital and TWO when we go for counts on Friday they are well enough to start school on the 7th, they need to be over 500.

Mail came today! Mimi's backpack came in, Iza's came last week. Also some fun school accessories for all three girls from Auntie Sherri and Uncle Joe :) Thank you!

Iza Got SuperSibs Mail today, she was very happy to go to sleep on her new pillow.

Day # 5...

We have been moved into a new room last night while Meg was here to hang out with Miss Mimi. We redecorated with the hearts and had some new ones to add! She is in a room with a view, good thing since she will be here another night. ANC is still low (300) and Dr. L would like to see it a little higher before she goes home. Tomorrow sounds more promising.

Mimi really likes to know about how things work and why, she wanted t know all about platelets so we did a bunch of research and she got to see some pictures. One of the best books I have found that you can read online is Chemo To The Rescue. It explains Chemo and Leukemia to kids in kid terms.



Iza was overjoyed to see Mimi yesterday. They got to be goofballs together while Mimi was getting her platelets. Iza was psyched to have the hospital snacks, saltine crackers, graham crackers, and a cherry popsicle.

TGIF!

Mimi gets a little break from clinic until Tuesday. This week has been quite busy, clinic every morning, still trying to catch up on housework piled up since we were in the hospital, a visit from our uncle Wiesiek from Poland, Magi getting over her sickies and missing mommy... the list goes on. Most important though - we are all at home and it's loud which is a sign of happy!

Mimi and her sisters have also gotten some fun mail! They say Thank you!!!

She has been loving this hat from Sarah Julia and Olivia and has gotten many compliments on it.

A little friend Kieran has also sent some fun mail including these super cute bracelets for all the girls but getting Magi to stay still for a pic is a task...

Mail FROM Mimi

I called this blog MAIL FOR MIMI because of a simple request that Mimi had while at the hospital "Can I get mail here Mommy?" I mentioned it to a couple of amazing people and the word was spread - Mimi wanted Mail. The mail came and is still coming.

Now Mimi wants to write back.

We have gone through three sets of watercolor paints. Painting, drawing and coloring has become Mimi's therapy. She sets her self up on our new island right in the center of it all and creates. She has decided to respond to ALL the mail she has gotten so we are going down the list. Daddy has bought us stamps, although I think we might be sending him again soon. So we are creating art and stuffing envelopes.
